We have a vacancy for a bass singer. Please contact us for further information if you are interested.
Why not consider joining us in our enjoyment, fun and charity work whilst singing in a quality chamber choir that sings a very varied repertoire?
Singers from all sections are warmly invited to join our waiting list and will be contacted if a vacancy occurs.
Requirements.
Essential criteria is that you have recent experience of choral singing at a reasonably high standard. You will be able to sing in tune and your voice will blend into a chamber ensemble. You must have reasonable sight reading skills. We perform a very wide repertoire to a high standard so you must be able to go through material at home.
You need to be available for rehearsals, usually on the 1st and 3rd Thursday night of the month, with some extra Thursday nights thrown in. There is a good break in summer. We have a more intense bank of rehearsals between January and March to set up the year’s repertoire. The repertoire in each concert is adjusted as we go. There are around 12 concerts a year, currently all around Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire so ability to travel is essential.
As might be expected with a choir that aims for a high standard, if you meet the essential criteria, there is a very friendly audition process and you will receive details of this in advance. It will include a few exercises scales, arpeggios, singing a couple of well known tunes and some sight reading.
If all is well you are invited to come to some rehearsals, (given some music to enable you to prepare in advance what we are rehearsing). If you are still keen to join us and we are keen for you to be part of the choir you may be invited to join immediately or there may be a short probationary period which includes at least two concerts, which quickly becomes permanent if all goes well.
